At The Wright Door Co. Garage Door Questions and Answers. We are asked hundreds of questions regarding garage doors and electric garage door openers by customers. Today we will highlight and answer the four most commonly asked question.

Why should I use a professional garage door dealer/installer?

A garage door is the largest moving object in your home and proper installation is highly technical. The springs, cables and fixtures are under extreme pressure. If these are not balanced and calibrated properly, it can cause property damage and potentially dangerous, even deadly, consequences. In addition, incorrect installation can void some warranties. We believe that installing a garage door is not a do-it yourself job. Our professional garage door technicians can typically install a garage door in a few hours and we’ll haul away and dispose of your old garage door.

Does my garage door require maintenance?

YES, your garage door should be inspected and maintained  at least every 2 years by a professional garage door technician. Because the garage door is the largest moving item in your home, it should be inspected and maintained. Just as you would have you’re your car inspected and maintained. This will help to extend the functional life of your garage door, and help eliminate any potential door failures. In addition, The Wright Door Co. will waive any service call charges on doors we have inspected within 2 year from the inspection date. If a door failure occurs during that time.

I have two springs across the top of the garage door, but only one is broken. Do I have to replace both of the springs?

WE highly recommend replacing both of the springs at the same time. As both of the springs have been bearing the same amount of stress each time the door has been opened and closed. It is only a matter of time before the second spring will become too fatigued and break. There is also the potential that the garage door may not balance and function properly with one new spring and one fatigued spring. It is also cost effective to replace both garage door spring sat the same time, rather than one at a time.

The bottom section of our garage door is damaged. Can I only replace the bottom section or do I have to purchase a whole new garage door?

YES, a section can be replaced as long as it is still available from the manufacturer. However, exposure to the elements will have altered the color of your sections. A perfect match may not be possible. In some cases, the cost of the sections and the labor to replace them may be close to the cost of a completely new garage. Remember that a new garage door consist of new track, springs, and hardware. Our professional garage door technicians can work with you for the best solution to fit your needs.
